"No Empty Chair” Teen Driving Safety Campaign – April 23 - 27, 2018 Each year thousands of high school students across New York State look forward to attending their prom and graduation ceremony. For parents, siblings, educators and the community, these memorable moments become tarnished when a child dies in a car crash.
The time has come to submit nominations for the Annual STOP-DWI MADD Statewide Awards Banquet. Awards are presented in three categories: Law Enforcement Officer Award is presented to any Law Enforcement Officer who was actively on a Police Agency roster during the year 2017. The Law Enforcement Agency Award is presented to any Law Enforcement Agency in New York State.

Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Remove Intoxicated Drivers (RID) held its inaugural Victims Candlelight Vigil with a special “Safety Tree” dedication on Thursday, November 16th to honor the memories of Dutchess County victims of intoxicated driving crashes.

We posthumously recognize Doris Aiken for over 35 years of dedication to preventing impaired driving. Founder of Remove Intoxicated Drivers, a true pioneer, advocate and “pit bull” champion for victims and families affected by impaired drivers; she will forever be remembered because she truly made a difference!
The Lewis Henry Morgan Institute’s One Second Exhibit Series explores the stories of crash victims across New York State. These forensic-style exhibits focus on high-risk factors such as: the combination of driving and alcohol and/or drug use, excessive speed, and distractions, such as phone use and texting while driving.
The trajectory of Kevin Thompson’s life took a solid turn the day he got his driver’s license. On the way home from passing the test, with his father buckled beside him in the passenger’s seat, Thompson witnessed a devastating, fatal accident.
